So I finished it

November 11th, 2008 (08:32 pm)

I finished Twilight, and while it was an enjoyable enough read, I'm not finding myself as sucked into it as I thought I would be. Probably because I've had so much RL crap going on that I would start reading and find myself going "OMFG BELLA YOU ARE SEVENTEEN GET SOME PERSPECTIVE." Which likely means I am thisclose to putting a rocking chair on my porch and telling those damn kids to get off my lawn.

There is, however, one thing I would like to get off my chest, and that is the complete and utter lack of reaction when Edward admits that he's been sneaking in her room and watching her sleep at night. I'll even cut Edward a generous amount of slack...the kid's been deprived/deprived himself of anything resembling a romantic relationship for almost a century, and he's probably a little rusty when it comes to basic socialization with someone he's attracted to, and how to express that attraction.

It's like the sweet but socially inept nerdy guy, who's never had a girlfriend before, and then when he finally gets one he completely worships the ground she walks on and she comes over and he's like "OH HAI I SAVED ALL OF YOUR STRAY HAIRS THAT I COULD FIND AND MADE THIS DECORATIVE PILLOW TO REMIND ME OF YOU WHEN YOU'RE NOT AROUND." Creepy, but his heart's in the right place, maybe.

What really gets me is that when Edward goes "Oh yeah, I've totes been watching you sleep at night and counting the number of times you say my name" Bella's reaction is first "OMG I AM SO EMBARRASSED THAT YOU HEARD WHAT I SAID WHILE I WAS ASLEEP" and then "Sweet! So you won't mind staying when I am conscious and aware of your presence, since you've been doing that the whole time anyway!" And then it is never made mention of again.

Um. Okay?

Anyway, I would now like to direct your attention to Growing Up Cullen, because it is hilarious and even after reading the book I can still imagine Edward pressing flowers in his room. ANGRILY.

balcarin: and esme would be like WHY DON'T YOU GO TRY OUT THAT NEW POTTERY WHEEL I BOUGHT?
welurklate: and that's how they have like 80 bowls they'll never use

[film] twilight -> edward/bella room

LOLOL I love how accurately you've just defined Edward Cullen. The whole "overprotective/controlling" part of his personality is the EXACT reason I'm more of a Jacob Black fan (time for you to read New Moon, methinks :P)... But yes. I'm glad you finally got around to reading it XD

LMAOOOO looking at Growing Up Cullen now XD HAHAHAHA.

You are a better person than I. I couldn't even finish the book. It made my head hurt from all the wining in it, among other things. ASlo for you viewing pleasure you should Check out Cleolinda's and Shinga's Livejournals. Their twilight stuff is hilarious.

twilight - dr drew hates edward

Which likely means I am thisclose to putting a rocking chair on my porch and telling those damn kids to get off my lawn.
Yeah! Those darn kids, with their skateboards, and their computers!!

Ahahaha, you know, I'm basically just mad at myself for being a sucker and reading the whole series. It's SO ridiculous. And seriously, everybody needs some goddamn perspective and Charlie needs to bitchslap his kid. Okay so, one of my friends wanted to borrow my book because she was so curious about all the hype - that I can't blame her for. But then the other day she said she started the book, and said "So I saw the movie yesterday, and I don't know if it's making me not want to finish the book... Seriously, if some guy told me he was watching me sleep for the past couple of months, I wouldn't kiss him, I'd tell him *holds out arm straight, pointing finger* GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY ROOM!"

As much as I dislike Edward, I never really thought about it the way you put it! It's kind of a good point, and although he's creepy, maaaybe I could cut him a little slack for that. Bella, definitely not. UGH.
